How Does Sculptra® Aesthetic Work?
Sculptra® Aesthetic is an injectable filler designed to add volume to your face. Sculptra® Aesthetic is composed of poly-L-lactic acid, a synthetic material. Because it is not made from human or animal sources, Sculptra® Aesthetic does not require a skin test. The poly-L-lactic acid in Sculptra® Aesthetic stimulates your own body’s collagen production—the building blocks to fuller, more youthful-looking skin. Sculptra® Aesthetic does not yield immediate results. Rather, the effects appear gradually over a period of a few months.
Who is a Candidate for Sculptra® Aesthetic?
Individuals who would like to address the following facial concerns, may benefit from Sculptra® Aesthetic:
- Deep lines extending from the nose to the corners of the mouth (nasolabial folds or smile lines).
- Lines extending downwards from the corners of the mouth (marionette lines).
- Hollows or depressions in the skin, such as sunken cheeks and chin wrinkles.
Dr. Blair will treat men and women with several injections into the deep dermis (beneath the skin). A topical numbing medication may be administered prior to the treatment to help with any discomfort. Usually, Sculptra® Aesthetic patients require 1 to 4 treatments, spaced about 4 weeks apart, to see the desired results.
